X-Men’s Excalibur Team Is Finally Coming Back!
By Nicholas Raymond

Excalibur, an offshoot of the X-Men that had their own series for a decade, is finally reforming after twenty years. Reuniting under their original leader, Captain Britain, the group will appear in X-Men Gold Annual #1. The cover and the synopsis indicates that Captain Britain and his wife, Meggan, have had a child off-panel.

After years of bringing into prominence younger and newer heroes, Marvel promised that the Marvel Legacy relaunch would put a renewed focus on the company’s classic characters. Over the past few weeks, Marvel has announced a number of changes that will help to restore the status quo of the Marvel Universe. Fans of X-Men comics will finally get Jean Grey back, as well as Wolverine and Professor X who were killed a few years ago. Adam Warlock, a key figure in Marvel’s biggest events in the ’90s, will be making a comeback in the pages of Guardians of the Galaxy, and Marvel’s three Avengers titles will be reshuffled under a single series.

Adding to the list of returning characters, Marvel has announced that Excalibur, a team of X-Men characters based in the UK, will reunite in X-Men Gold Annual #1. Written by Marc Guggenheim and Leah Williams, the issue will bring together original team members Captain Britain, Meggan, Nightcrawler, Prestige, and Kitty Pryde, who formed the team in 1988 at a time when the X-Men were thought to be dead. The cover is a recreation of the cover for Excalibur #1. Featured on both covers is an image of Widget, a floating robot head that took the original team on a journey through parallel universes.
